A Cause for Paws President Antonio (Tony) Raimondo has been rescuing animals for many years.

Twelve years ago Tony began to notice a large number of strays in and around the buildings he owns and manages in the Bronx. He was moved to take them in and provide them with veterinary care until he found them permanent homes.

Four years ago he and co-founder Lydia DesRoche began actively increasing their outreach to the animals. They gradually put in more of their time and money.

In June 2000 they formed A Cause for Paws and were granted 501(c)3 status.

They began recruiting a group of volunteers and forming a network of Veterinarians, boarding facilities and foster families to help care for their dogs and cats.

Who is "A Cause for Paws?"
We are a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization. We have no shelter of our own, so we foster and board all of our animals until we can find them loving homes. We rescue our animals from the streets of New York City (and surrounding areas) and from local kill shelters. Our goal is to educate the public about the benefits of spaying and neutering, create awareness about the consequences of breeding and buying and continue to save the lives of animals.

How can I help?
If you want to directly help save the lives of New York City's homeless animals, you can volunteer with us (in a variety of opportunities) or send us a tax-deductible donation. Every penny of your donation goes directly towards the care of rescued animals looking for loving homes.

To adopt
Please visit our adopt a dog and adopt a cat sections. If you see a potential pet you love, fill out an application or e-mail us at cause4pawsny@aol.com. If your application is approved, we will deliver your new pet to your home. The minimum adoption fee is $150.00 for dogs and $100.00 for cats, which helps us cover the cost of medical care and boarding of our animals.
